Kangana’s Emergency gets postponed
Meanwhile, Kangana's directorial film Emergency recently got postponed after facing opposition from the Sikh community. It was supposed to hit theatres on September 6, 2024. However, due to the nature of the film, CBFC has suggested certain cuts. In the film, she plays the role of former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Emergency is written, directed, and produced under Kangana’s banner Manikarnika Films.
After Emergency’s trailer was released, a PIL was filed at the High Court, stating that the trailer depicts erroneous historical facts and that the film promotes ‘hatred towards Sikh community’. On August 21, the SGPC and the Akal Takht demanded an immediate ban on Emergency, alleging that the film promotes ‘anti-Sikh sentiments’
Recently, the Madhya Pradesh High Court asked the Centre to clarify if Kangana's film Emergency has been certified yet or not.
The film also stars Shreyas Talpade, Milind Soman, Vishak Nair, and late actor Satish Kaushik, among others.
