Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan watched his latest movie Indian 2 at a Chennai theatre with actor-filmmaker Seeman. Indian 2 is the long-awaited sequel to the 1996 classic Indian. The film enjoyed significant hype before its release and had a strong opening. Kamal, who has been promoting the movie across the country, watched it along with his fans.
However, Kamal Haasan didn't meet the press after the show and left the theatre immediately, which contrasts with his previous practices. For example, he watched the latest Telugu blockbuster Kalki 2898 AD on the same day of its release and addressed a press conference, sharing his thoughts on the movie and discussing his future roles in the franchise.
Kamal's silence regarding Indian 2 has led to speculation about whether he had any reservations about the final cut of the film.
On the other hand, Seeman met the media and praised Indian 2. He noted that the film highlights the importance of individual responsibility in building a better country free of all social and political evils. "People always expect someone else to come and solve their problems. If a government officer is corrupt, a higher officer who is honest can fix him. If politicians are corrupt, people have the power to overthrow them after five years. But what if people themselves become corrupt? We can't do anything. Indian 2 is planting a very inspirational thought in young people," said Seeman.
However, Indian 2 has garnered a poor response from critics, and the word of mouth is also not strong from audiences. Many have opined that Indian 2 was a huge step down from the classic Indian, and director Shankar has wasted the opportunity to properly honour the film's legacy.
