Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan launched the trailer for his upcoming movie Indian 2 at a press meet in Chennai. It was a closed-door event, and only a handful of media personnel had the opportunity to watch the trailer hours before its general release on Tuesday evening.

After the trailer launch, Kamal interacted with the media and shared his experience of working on Indian 2, which is a sequel to his 1996 blockbuster Indian. The sequel was made more than 25 years after the release of the first movie. Yet, the film has generated huge anticipation among cinephiles across the world.

While making Indian 2, the filmmakers faced a lot of obstacles. For starters, the production took more than four years to complete owing to various reasons. Director Shankar also shot Indian 3 during the long-drawn production. However, the scale and demanding nature of the movie seem to have taken a toll on the enthusiasm of its cast and crew. They seem less inclined to imagine the possibilities of further additions to the franchise immediately.

Kamal was asked to share his plans for Indian 4 and 5, and he said, "I feel overwhelmed just by hearing that question. Let's not discuss it now. While making Indian 1, I suggested Part 2. At that time, Shankar felt similar pressure. I can remember hearing a rooster crowing at 4 AM. First, you watch Indian 2, and even make Indian 3 a success. After that, if we find the strength, it might happen," he said.

It seems Kamal needed to work twice as hard as he did for the first film in the 90s. Shankar recalled the kind of challenges that Kamal endured to bring his vision to the screen while expressing awe and admiration for him. "In a scene, Kamal sir is required to perform while hanging on the ropes. And he did that for four days in a row, with makeup. And he was required to speak in Punjabi and act," Shankar said at the press meet.

Indian 2 will hit screens worldwide on July 12.
