Kamal Aur Meena: Siddharth P Malhotra all set to direct Kamal Amrohi - Meena Kumari's love story; music maestro A R Rahman to compose the music

Bollywood has seen not just millions of timeless love stories on the silver screen, but also off screen as well! One such love story, which went on to become a timeless classic was that of the prolific filmmaker Kamal Amrohi and the graceful and stunningly beautiful Meena Kumari. Their everlasting love story has now been converted into a full-fledged feature film, which has been titled ‘Kamal Aur Meena’.

The grand announcement was shared by the renowned trade analyst Taran Adarsh on social media. Taran posted, ‘BIGGG NEWS... KAMAL AMROHI - MEENA KUMARI'S ICONIC LOVE STORY TO COME ALIVE ON BIG SCREEN... Saregama India Ltd and LionHeart Cinema announce their first film collaboration, titled #KamalAurMeena’.

He added that the film would bring to life the real-life romance between legendary director Kamal Amrohi and the celebrated actress Meena Kumari, while capturing their timeless love story. He also stated that the film Kamal Aur Meena would be chronicling their 20-year journey, which will start from their first meeting when she was just 18 and he was 34. The film will also be touching upon the creation, filming and release of the classic Pakeezah.

As for the film’s director, it will be none other than Siddharth P Malhotra, who has, to his credit, of having helmed films including Maharaj and the much-acclaimed Rani Mukerji starrer Hichki. While the names of the actors who will be playing the roles of Kamal Amrohi and Meena Kumari have still been kept under the wraps (as the casting is in progress), the film will be the music maestro A R Rahman composing the music.

The said film will be produced by #BilalAmrohi [grandson of #KamalAmrohi], #Saregama and #RohandeepSingh, the film begins shooting in 2025 and releases in 2026... Casting is in progress.
