The latest Telugu blockbuster Kalki 2898 AD continues its dream run at the box office. The sci-fi epic, starring Telugu superstar Prabhas and Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan in the lead roles, has demonstrated impressive staying power and is likely to remain the top choice for moviegoers in India.
Kalki 2898 AD performed exceedingly well during its four-day extended weekend, breaching the Rs 500 crore mark globally, thanks to a strong Monday. The footfall for the movie across the country remains significantly high even during the weekdays, hinting at a robust second weekend.
According to reports, Kalki 2898 AD has already surpassed the Rs 600 crore mark. The film is expected to end its first week on Thursday with over Rs 650 crore in its kitty. If the film can maintain this momentum into the second week, it could easily reach the coveted Rs 1000 crore mark.
Kalki 2898 AD has struck a chord with audiences in the Hindi-speaking states. Within its first seven days, the film has grossed about Rs 150 crore in North India alone. Kalki 2898 AD is already a rage in the Telugu states and is also holding well in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala. With no major new films releasing this week, director Nag Ashwin's magnum opus will enjoy a free run at the box office till next week.
Kalki 2898 AD also stars Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone in key roles.
