Ever since the time Nag Ashwin’s magnum opus Kalki 2898 AD had been announced, it had created a never before seen, felt and experienced kind of curiosity amongst the cinegoers. The reason? Well... there is no one reason for it as there are a plethora of reasons for the film to be termed as one of the ‘to watch out for’ films of recent times.
Just as when everything seems to be going in the favour of the film, it has now been accused of plagiarism by a concept artist. The concept artist, who goes by the name of Sung Choi, happens to be a concept illustrator and designer. On the professional level, he has to his credit, of having collaborated with the likes of Warner Bros, Marvel Studios and Disney.
Sung Choi has now accused the makers of 'Kalki 2898 AD' (Vyjayanthi Movies) of plagiarising his artwork. The frame in question is the same one which appears at the very beginning of the film’s trailer.
On his part, Sung Choi took to social media and posted a collage and compared his work (illustration) with that of the film Kalki 2898 AD's still from the trailer. He then wrote, “Unauthorized use of the artwork is a bad practice. I sometimes even question doing art in this lawless environment (sic).”

No sooner than this post was uploaded, this went viral in no time. Not just that, there were many who even advised Sung Choi to sue the makers of the film Kalki 2898 AD. The reason? One of the users explained the reason behind why they wanted him to sue the makers.
The user wrote, ‘Please sue them, I have read on Google that they sued vfx company for leaking the look of Prabhas (actor) if they can sue, you also do it’. There was another user who wrote, ‘This is totally shame on them, the most sad thing is this is the intro shot of the production house’.
As for the film Kalki 2898 AD, it stars Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan, and Disha Patani. The film has been scheduled to be released in theatres on June 27.
