Kalki 2898 AD is showing all signs of becoming the second movie in Prabhas' career to cross the coveted Rs 1000 crore mark globally. On Saturday, the producers officially confirmed that the movie has earned a whopping Rs 800 crore from its worldwide ticket sales since its release on June 27.

Kalki 2898 AD has grossed more than Rs 500 crore in India alone, while earning another Rs 300 crore in overseas markets. The film continues to dominate the screens in the Telugu states, where it has no big rivals at the box office.

Kalki 2898 AD is also strong in the neighbouring South Indian states, solidifying gains, and is set for an excellent second weekend in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala. Meanwhile, Kalki 2898 AD has become a smash hit in the North Indian states.

Kalki 2898 AD is fast nearing Rs 200 crore in the Hindi-speaking belt. The film has grossed more than Rs 173 crore so far and is expected to breach the Rs 200 crore mark by the end of Sunday. The epic sci-fi fantasy remains the most preferred movie at the box office in North India.

The latest Bollywood actioner, Kill, isn't posing much of a challenge to the movie, which also stars Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone in key roles. "... #Kalki2898AD continues its dominance... Biz multiplies from evening shows onwards on [second] Fri… Absence of major film/s has given it the wings to fly high for [a] second consecutive week… Expect an upsurge in biz on [second] Sat - Sun," tweeted popular trade analyst Taran Adarsh.

Kalki 2898 AD is written and directed by Nag Ashwin. It's celebrated for its visual grandeur, which has cost the producers more than Rs 600 crore. The movie also stars Kamal Haasan as the main antagonist.
