Bollywood star Alia Bhatt's latest film Jigra, directed by filmmaker Vasan Bala, has released in theatres. The film, which also stars Vedang Raina, revolves around the lives of the brother-sister duo, Ankur and Satya, who get separated due to unforeseen reasons. Will Satya be able to reunite with her brother forms the plotline of the film. After its big screen debut, the film has left social media users divided with some saying that Jigra is ‘fabulous, emotional and gutsy,’ while others say that the film is not entertaining and is a victim of poor writing.

X review of Alia Bhatt’s Jigra

Social media users took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to express their opinions on the Alia Bhatt-starrer Jigra. Though some users pointed out the flaws in the film, several netizens termed the film to be good. While one user called the film ‘fabulous, emotional and gutsy,’ another said that the screenplay, acting, events, cinematography and music make it ‘So Good.’ Another wrote that Jigra is a “Brilliant action thriller that is emotionally gripping.”

‘Style, class and substance—#Jigra got all three. If you are looking for a quality cinema falling into the art and science of cinema and away from commerce, then Jigra seems to be the BEST THING YOU'LL SEE IN 2024,” added another user.

However, the movie also got its share of negative feedback. Pointing out the flaws in the film, one user wrote that it was dragging and the entire story revolves around jailbreaking and not the main conflict. The user added that the basic issue of the film is that the film isn't entertaining and is a victim of poor writing.

    X users praise Alia Bhatt

Despite the shortcomings of the movie, several users showered praise on the leading lady of Jigra, actress Alia Bhatt. One user commented on how the actress is the only ‘Female Superstar in the Indian film industry’ who can carry the whole film on her shoulders.

Another social media user shared a picture of one scene featuring Alia and Vedang and wrote that the scene will go down in history books with other iconic scenes of the actress including scenes from films like Highway, Dear Zindagi, Udta Punjab and Gangubai Kathiawadi. The user added that this scene is one of her best scenes ever.

“This Woman. #AliaBhatt has outperformed herself in #JIGRA. The range she has when it comes to portraying emotions is truly fascinating and definitely praiseworthy,” wrote another user.

Another user wrote about the brilliance of filmmaker Vasan Bala and said that he ‘killed it with his cinematography and direction!’ while another wrote, ‘Hats off to #VasanBala for crafting this gem. Don't miss it, folks!’
