A video of Jaya Bachchan expressing her dislike at being called Jaya Amitabh Bachchan had gone viral online recently. The actor-turned-politician again had an altercation with Rajya Sabha chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar after which the opposition members walked out of the Parliament. Jaya, who was seen to be irritated at Jagdeep Dhankhar’s remarks, accused the RS chairman of talking to her in an unacceptable tone.

While speaking in the Rajya Sabha, Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan expressed her irritation at Jagdeep Dhankhar’s unacceptable tone and demanded an apology from him.

Expressing her dislike at his tone, Jaya said, “I am an artist. I understand body language and expressions. But your tone is not right. We are your colleagues, but your tone is unacceptable.”

Responding to this, the chairman asked Jaya to understand the importance of maintaining decorum in the Parliament but lost his temper when other Rajya Sabha members sided with the actress.

Dhankhar told Jaya, “Jaya ji you have earned a great reputation. You know an actor is subject to the director. But every day, I do not want to repeat myself. Every day, I don't want to do schooling. You are talking about my tone? Enough of it. You may be anybody. You have to understand the decorum. You can be a celebrity but accept decorum.”

After the opposition members walked out of the Parliament, the chairman reminded them of their duty and asked them to be seated but to no avail. "There is a lack of decorum. You are walking away from your duty," Dhankhar said.

Jaya’s dislike at being called Jaya Amitabh Bachchan

This verbal battle marks the duo’s third altercation in the last ten days over Jaya being called Jaya Amitabh Bachchan. The actor-turned-politician has raised her objection to being identified through her husband’s name and wants to be called Jaya Bachchan. During the first incident, Dhankhar told her that Jaya Amitabh Bachchan was her registered name on the list, and she could get it changed if she wanted.

"There is a process to change your name that appears on the election certificate and that is submitted here (Rajya Sabha)," Dhankhar said.
