Talking about the same, Shaan commented under an Instagram post that spoke about the victory of RRR. His comment read, “Hahahah this is so funny. I thought only in India we could buy awards lol. His comment did not go unnoticed and netizens soon started trolling him brutally. One of the netizens stated, “Jealousy at its peak” while another user added, “People like you are a disgrace to the nation.” One of the netizens furthermore ordered him to leave India. Well, this is not the first time someone got criticized ever since the SS Rajamouli directorial won an Oscar. Earlier, veteran actress and politician Jaya Bachchan was also called out by many netizens for allegedly trying to ‘steal’ the limelight after the RRR team’s humongous achievement. She said in the Parliament, “I am so happy and I am so glad that we are discussing the most important ambassadors of this country. And they are the film folks. It doesn't matter where they are from – north, east, south or west – they are Indians... I stand here with pride and with dignity for our film fraternity, who have represented this country number of times, have won a number of awards starting from Satyajit Ray onwards.” Soon after that, netizens accused her of trying to spark the infamous Bollywood vs South debate yet again with her speech. Meanwhile, apart from RRR, Guneet Monga produced The Elephant Whisperers won the Best Documentary Short at the Oscars.
