Bollywood star Akshay Kumar started shooting for "Jolly LLB3," the third instalment in the Jolly LLB film series, on Thursday. He shared the news with his followers along with an announcement video, suggesting that his character Advocate Jagdishwar Mishra, aka Jolly, will face off with Arshad Warsi's Advocate Jagdish Tyagi, alias Jolly.
"Ab original kaun aur duplicate kaun, yeh toh pata nahi (I don't know who is original and who is duplicate). But this sure is going to be a jolly good ride!! Stay with me. Jai Mahakaal," tweeted Akshay.
In the promo video, Jagdish Tyagi warns against the duplicate 'Jolly,' while Jagdishwar Mishra introduces himself as the "original Jolly". And of course, Judge Sunderlal Tripathi, wonderfully portrayed by Saurabh Shukla, also makes a cameo.
It seems it's Jolly vs Jolly in "Jolly LLB3." Director-writer Subhash Kapoor promises to deliver one of the funniest courtroom dramas with the upcoming sequel. The shoot began in Ajmer, where the producers have built grand courtroom sets.
The first film in the Jolly LLB movie series was released in 2013 and became an unexpected hit. The low-budget courtroom drama about a failing lawyer taking on the might of one of the most powerful senior advocates in the country struck a chord with the audience. The film even inspired a Tamil remake named "Manithan," released in 2016.
In 2017, Subhash Kapoor scored a bigger hit with "Jolly LLB 2." Starring Akshay Kumar in the lead role, the film narrates the struggles of another small-time lawyer who wages a legal battle against some of the most powerful men in search of the truth. The film went on to gross more than Rs 200 crore, making "Jolly LLB" one of the most promising and profitable movie franchises in India.
