After getting stranded in Israel, Bollywood actor Nushrratt Bharuccha is finally being brought home with the help of the Embassy. The 38-year-old was in Israel to attend the Haifa International Film Festival and was caught in the Israel-Palestine crisis after a terrorist attack by Hamas triggered a full-blown war.
“We have finally managed to get in touch with Actress Nushrratt Bharuccha and with the help of the Embassy, she is being safely brought back home. She is safe and on her way to India,” ANI reported Sanchita Trivedi, a member of Nushrratt Bharuccha’s team, as saying.
Bharuccha had travelled to Haifa for the maiden screening of her film Akelli, which also features Tsahi Halevi and Amir Boutrous, Israel actors who had earlier featured in the web series Fauda. “Nushrratt Bharucha is stuck in Israel. She had travelled there to participate in the Haifa International Film Festival,” according to a statement shared by her team member earlier. Her last contact with the team was around 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, as per the team.
The conflict between Israeli forces and the Palestinian group Hamas intensified, killing over 500 people on both sides. Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has already warned that they were "embarking on a long and difficult war".
Meanwhile, the 38-year-old actress is known for films like Pyaar Ka Punchnama series, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety and "Chhorii". She was last seen in "Akelli", the thriller drama, which was released on August 25. Set in Iraq, the film showcases how a person realises her capabilities in adverse situations like being trapped in the desert. Helmed by debutant filmmaker Pranay Meshram, the film underperformed at the box office, however, Nushrratt’s performance was well-received by critics. Up next, the actress is geared up for the second part of Chhorii.
