Is THIS the reason why Jigra director Vasan Bala deactivated his X account?

The recently released Alia Bhatt starrer Jigra was one of the most eagerly awaited films of the recent times. Despite all the necessary publicity, the film did not live upto the expectations at the box office. Adding to that was a Box Office ticket controversy that the film got involved in.

In lieu of all these and other reasons, the film’s director Vasan Bala was being trolled on social media. Days after being trolled for apparently speaking out in his defence over his latest box office film Jigra, he has now deactivated his X account (formerly known as Twitter).

One of the reasons for the film director Vasan Bala to be trolled by a bunch of netizens was because of a statement that he spoke in one of the interviews, in which he had stated that, ‘he doesn't treat the box office as a parameter of success’.

Vasan Bala’s X account, which was active till about the late hours of Saturday, got deactivated on Sunday. Just like any other deactivated account, the X account of Vasan Bala springs up a message that states 'This post is from an account that no longer exists’.

For the unversed, the controversy and trolling (in that order) surrounding the film Jigra started when Divya Khossla took to social media and posted, ‘Went to Citi Mall PVR for Jigra show. Theatre was totally empty… all theatres are going empty everywhere.”

She added, ‘#Aliabhatt me sach mein bahut #Jigra hai.. khud hi tickets karide aur fake collections announce kar diye. Wonder why paid media is silent. #weshdnotfooltheaudience #truthoverlies #HappyDussehra’.

Post that, there was Karan Johar, who posted a cryptic post on social media, which many felt was hinted at Divya Khossla. On his part, Karan Johar posted, ‘“Silence is the best speech you will ever give to fools’.

This was followed by Divya Khossla hitting back saying (in an interview with Hindustan Times), ‘“Is it right to call a woman a fool for pointing out unethical practices?" she asked. "If this happens to me, what about those new to the industry? No one is a king here, and I won’t be treated like a subject’
