Rana Daggubati, who is known for his roles in iconic period dramas, is currently in discussions to play a significant part in Shahid Kapoor’s upcoming film about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Recent reports suggest that the Baahubali actor is being considered for the role of Aurangzeb in this period drama! Yes, you read that right. According to reports, OMG 2-fame director Amit Rai, who is working on a film about the great warrior Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, will have Shahid Kapoor portraying the legendary figure. The makers are reportedly planning to cast Rana Daggubati as the Mughal emperor. Although discussions are ongoing, an official confirmation is yet to be announced.

Insider sources indicate that Rana Daggubati is Amit Rai's top choice for Aurangzeb, but logistical issues need to be addressed for him to join the project. Shahid is also excited about the potential collaboration, according to these reports.

Rana, who captivated audiences with his portrayal of Bhallaldeva in Baahubali, is expected to impress once again as the Mughal emperor in this upcoming period drama.

Directed by Amit Rai, the film will narrate an important chapter in Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's life. While it is not a biopic, the movie will be treated as a thriller, focusing on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's jailbreak.

The script has been completed, and the project is expected to begin by the end of the year. Reports also suggest that leading man Shahid is undergoing extensive training and preparation to fully embody the character. The film is reportedly going to be produced by Wakaoo Films in association with Telugu producer Dil Raju. The Telugu producer's association could confirm Rana's involvement in the project.
