Conducted at Chennai’s M. A. Chidambaram Stadium, the opening ceremony of Indian Premiere League was succeeded by the inaugural match between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). CSK secured victory in the opening match. The opening ceremony is available for free streaming on JioCinema as well.
During the opening ceremony of the 17th Indian Premier League (IPL) in Chennai, Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff thrilled the crowd with their energetic dance routines to their popular hits, while Sonu Nigam and A.R. Rahman captivated the audience with their patriotic songs. Tiger's dynamic performance on the track Jai Jai Shivshankar from the 2019 film War brought the audience to their feet. Dressed in a grey vest and camouflage trousers, the 34-year-old actor killed it on stage.
Akshay, set to star alongside Tiger in Ali Abbas Zafar’s forthcoming action thriller Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, showcased his dancing skills on the song Subha Hone Na De from his 2011 romantic comedy Desi Boyz. Dressed in a stylish grey jacket, the actor won hearts with his charm and confidence on stage.In one of the videos, Akshay exuded high energy as he took the stage. In another footage, he could be spotted riding a bike with Tiger behind him, holding the Tricolour, while Suno Gaur Se Duniya Walo played in the stadium.
Sonu Nigam, the versatile singer-music director, who is all set to commence his UK Tour with a live performance in London on March 29, captivated the audience with his live rendition of the song Vande Mataram from the 2019 movie Romeo Akbar Walter. AR Rahman then brought out the colour, making the Chennai crowd groove to his tune. He was joined by his fellow singers Mohit Chauhan and Neeti Mohan.
Overall, it was a star studed evening which completely took over the crowd in the Chennai stadium.
