Indian 2: Kajal Agarwal out of Kamal Haasan's long delayed film, will Deepika Padukone or Katrina Kaif be taking her place?

The long awaited Kamal Haasan movie Indian 2 seems to have hit another roadblock. The project which is being planned on huge scale has been on hold for quite sometime now. News is that Kajal Aggarwal who was to be the leading lady of this mega budget project is no longer associated with it.

The makers reportedly have plans to go pan-Indian with the project as is the trend these day and Indian 2 could now get a leading lady from Bollywood to attract audiences. The Kamal Haasan led film is to be the sequel of the 1996 original and there are a lot of big expectations that the fans have from the film.

Indian 2 was announced in 2017 and was finally able to begin shooting in December 2018. The project has since been delayed several times with sporadic shoot schedule and reports of Kajal’s departure from come after nearly 60% of the shoot has already been completed.

While reasons for Kajal’s departure haven’t yet been confirmed by the makers a Bollywood Hungama report claims that the makers are looking to get a big Bollywood star like Deepika Padukone or Katrina Kaif on board for the project as the leading lady.

So far, Kamal Haasan’s political commitments, health issues, on set accidents and Covid-19 related issues have marred the progress of Indian 2. The makers were planning to resume shooting again in a few months after the tragic crane accident which happened on the sets in 2020.

The project is far from completion and only time will tell when the audience will finally be able to see Kamal Haasan back in action. The film also stars Siddharth, Rakul Preet Singh, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Bobby Simha, late Nedumudi Venu and Samuthirakani.
