A Deeper Dive into Music Industry Injustices with Idris Elba
Contrary to a traditional music documentary, the series (3 x 60') will weave the narrative of the music industry within the context of racial exploitation. Taking a deep dive into the unjust disparity of profits earned by Black artists, the docuseries will shine a spotlight on the underlying structural racism prevalent in the music world. "It’s about bringing the music industry to account for the injustice inflicted on generations of musical talents," Idris Elba shared, reiterating the urgent need for change and recognition.

The pivotal series will feature contributions from a cadre of influencers, including filmmaker MK Asante Jr. and Lawrence Lartey of Ravensbourne University London. "This is a story that touches all of us. It’s about the people who created the soundtracks of our lives in popular music and the pain of their exploitation," Idris Elba highlighted. The series is not just about laying bare the exploitation, but is also about seeking reparations and restitution - a rallying cry for the rightful recognition and financial reward of Black artists.
