Actress Parvathy Thiruvothu is making a comeback to Tamil cinema after a long gap with the upcoming movie, Thangalaan. As the movie gears up for a grand release in a few weeks, Parvathy opened up about her working experience, which challenged her both emotionally and physically as an actor.

Parvathy noted that in the process of finding her character Gangamma in Thangalaan, she discovered a partner in Chiyaan Vikram, someone she could trust and fully involve herself within a scene without doubts or inhibitions.

"Gangamma and Thangalaan are husband and wife in the movie. It's important for me to have a comfortable relationship with my co-actor. Only then can we get our body language right and avoid forcing the chemistry. From day one, Vikram and I decided to find out who Gangamma and Thangalaan are as a couple," Parvathy told Cinema Vikatan.

Written and directed by Pa Ranjith, Thangalaan is a period drama set against the backdrop of British-occupied India. Parvathy received a lot of information from Ranjith about how women and men behaved within their community, which informed her performance with Vikram.

"I found a safe partner in Vikram. Obviously, as a woman, you will have a little discomfort when it comes to touch. I could trust Chiyaan so much that even during a shot if he improvised and touched my hand, I didn't feel surprised. That's how it is in life. When you are with somebody for a long time, and he touches you, it doesn't feel new. It became like that with him," she added.

Parvathy also revealed that Vikram knew when she lost the narrative thread of her performance and helped her regain control of the scene without breaking character.

"Vikram loved being in that world, and so did I. Not just for emotional scenes, but even in physically strenuous scenes, he used to give me tips. He's a generous giver," she noted.

Thangalaan is due in cinemas on August 15.
