'I feel really hurt..' : Rashmika Mandanna breaks silence on her deepfake video going viral, calls it scary

Rashmika Mandanna has now broken her silence in her deepfake video going viral on social media. It showed the actress stepping into an elevator. But on closer look, it's revealed to be a deepfake, a digitally altered video. The deception is so persuasive that it has amassed millions of views, with over 2.4 million views on the social media platform X. Rashmika shared a statement wherein she expressed her grave disappointment in the same.

The Pushpa actress said, “I feel really hurt to share this and have to talk about the deepfake video of me being spread online. Something like this is honestly, extremely scary not only for me, but also for each one of us who today is vulnerable to so much harm because of how technology is being misused. Today, as a woman and as an actor, I am thankful for my family, friends and well wishers who are my protection and support system. But if this happened to me when I was in school or college, I genuinely can’t imagine how could I ever tackle this. We need to address this as a community and with urgency before more of us are affected by such identity theft.” Take a look at the post.

She furthermore tagged the cyber cells and the police department of Cyberabad. Earlier, Rashmika also got support from her Goodbye co-star and superstar Amitabh Bachchan. He shared an X user’s post which had shared the two video clips, one which was the original one and had the face of the actual woman in the video named Zara Patel, and the other video had Rashmika’s face morphed in Patel’s body using technology. Bachchan further expressed his opinion on the same saying that it makes for a “compelling argument for legal action."
