Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam actor Vikram Gokhale passes away at 77 in Pune
The news was confirmed by Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital’s PRO Shirish Yadgikar who informed that Gokhale passed away this afternoon. One of the actor’s family friends Rajesh Damle has stated that the last rites will be performed at Pune’s Vaikuntha Smashan Bhumi at 6 pm.
The entertainment industry has lost one more gem of an actor. The 77-year-old Vikram Gokhale passed away on Saturday(November 26) in Pune. The veteran actor was undergoing treatment at the Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital in Pune for the past few days following health complications.

One of the actor’s family friends Rajesh Damle has stated that the last rites will be performed at Pune’s Vaikuntha Smashan Bhumi at 6 pm, and the aunty darshan will be kept at 4 pm in Balgandharva Rangmandir. Gokhale has been on the ventilator support for the last few days. A day ago, he showed a slight improvement and the doctor said he would likely be off the ventilator support but his health deteriorated overnight. Earlier, a rumour sparked of his death on the social media and several Bollywood celebrities had also expressed condolences. Well, the rumour has unfortunetly turned true and his demise has left a big void in the film industry.
Gokhale was the son of prominent Marathi theatre and cinema actor, Chandrakhant Gokhale. He worked as an artist in theatre, television and movies, and has been part of several Marathi and Bollywood films. He entered Bollywood at the age of 26 with Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Parwana(1971). Over a career spanning more than 40 years, he left a mark with his works in films including Agneepath(1990), Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999) He last featured in Nikamma alongside Shilpa Shetty and Abhimanyu Dassani which was released this year in June.
Besides acting, Gokhale also turned director with Marathi film Aaghaat(2010). He also received accolades for his contribution to the cinema. He was the recipient of the National Film Award for Best Actor category for his Marathi film Anumati. He was also honored with the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 2011 for his Acting in Theatre.
