Ram Charan and Akshay Kumar together tried to represent the unified spirit of Indian cinemas during an insightful session at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit 2022 in New Delhi. The two actors who have played a big role in bringing the audience back to the cinemas post the Covid-19 pandemic even prepared delightful surprises for one another and you certainly won’t want to miss the moment.

The RRR star who often spoke about Akshay and his body of work as an inspiration during the session, danced to the actor’s iconic song ‘Tu cheez badi hai mast mast’ and masterfully even managed to recreate the choreography of the original track. Akshay too joined in and the act delighted the audience.

Soon after Ram, Akshay not only lip synced to Ram Charan’s song ‘Rangamma Mangamma’ but also grooved to the song with the actor learning a few steps from him in the process. Ram was certainly surprised by Akshay’s choice of song and was happy to see the Bollywood star mouthing lyrics to the Telugu song.

As a surprise at the end of the session, Akshay said he was tired of Indian cinema being bifurcated Hindi and South and gave a surprise performance with Ram to the song ‘Ye Dosti’ as an ode to the friendship between all regions.

During the session at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit, Ram and Akshay both answered questions about the North – South divide and the RRR actor said that never among his peers has there ever been a feeling of vindication over Bollywood as films from various regions overpower the Hindi films at the box office. He humbly said that he’s happy to be in an era where films from all regions are co-existing as one unit.

Akshay, on the other hand, said that in Bollywood everyone from actors to exhibitors need to ‘dismantle and reinvent’ to bring audiences back to cinemas be it by relooking at ticket prices or by making larger than life films.
