Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan opened up while walking down memory lane to commemorate the 20th anniversary of his movie, Lakshya. To celebrate the film's milestone, whose stature has only grown over the last two decades, it was re-released in cinemas.

Giving a shout-out to the re-release of Lakshya, Hrithik Roshan expressed deep gratitude to director Farhan Akhtar. He claimed that the role of Karan Shergill was tailor-made for him, particularly because the character spoke to him personally in a profound way and mirrored his then state of mind.

"He (Farhan Akhtar) had written this beautiful script. More than the story and the big cause, the character of Karan Shergill was me. I don't know why he cast me as Karan Shergill. Perhaps the director's mind could see through and understand the person's countenance and know that this human has been through certain things that are going to make him the perfect cast for this film. At that point in time, I was the perfect human, not actor, to be cast in this film. I had been through those experiences in very similar ways," said Hrithik Roshan.

Hrithik Roshan claimed that he could easily relate to his character in the movie because he was also at a crossroads when the role came to him. "Karan was me. I did not need to do much. The naivety, spontaneity, the anger, and being at the cusp of that maturity. Learning the ways and being completely confused and dumbfounded as to what I am going to do in my life. Not having any avenues that looked hopeful. I went through that crossroads so greatly and intensely in my life. It just came naturally to me. Karan was a joy to act, perform, and be. It was such an incredible journey for me," he said.

Lakshya tells the story of an aimless youth from a rich family, who spends most of his time wandering with his friends and doing things that mean absolutely nothing. He's clueless as to what to do with his life, and even when he makes some hard decisions, he lacks the discipline and commitment to stick to them. However, when he joins the Indian army to spite his father, he ends up discovering himself and the aim he wants to achieve in life.

"In 20 years, Lakshya has had the glory of Lakshya. But, I didn't see this glory when it was actually released in 2004. But, in 20 years, it has become this giant. It has become such an identifiable and relatable film for everyone. I have heard so many conversations and narratives that have happened because of Lakshya. It's a film that was destined to be. It has gone a long way in changing people's lives and our livelihood as well. I am very grateful that this film happened and I got a chance to grow through this film," he added.
