How Hrithik Roshan owned 2022 with his portrayal of Vedha from Vikram Vedha
The year 2022 has been synonymous with Hrithik Roshan's versatility as he delved deep into the menacing character of Vedha. Here is how the actor's effortless performance wowed us.
Hrithik Roshan Vikram Vedha
The only Indian superstar referred to as the ‘complete package’; there is almost nothing that Hrithik can’t or won’t attempt to do! Every character he has taken on has been distinct and versatile – an emperor, a thief, a professor, a developmentally disabled man, a bad guy, and a good guy – Give Hrithik Roshan just about any role and he always seems to take it to the next level with his consistent effort and intense prep.
He was the guy, who with Krrish, gave India its most loved and successful superhero and then took our breath away as an emperor to the extent that we can’t imagine anyone else essaying the role and looking just as impactful in the part. Be it an action hero in WAR or a mathematical genius in Super 30, a suave thief in Dhoom 2 or just a guy living life in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, the man is as versatile as it gets! But what really stood out for me in particular was his portrayal as ‘Vedha’ in ‘ Vikram Vedha ’, probably his career’s finest and the best performance this year.
Vedha was a bad guy that you just couldn’t help but love and was another showcase of not just Hrithik Roshan’s prowess as one of India’s finest performers but also of his unmatched screen presence. Touted as his career’s best performance, Hrithik Roshan stood out in 2022 for a stellar performance that had fans and critics raving as he bravely took on the eccentric character with shades of grey and pulled it off like a pro!
It's fascinating that Hrithik Roshan is the only superstar who has successfully played legendary roles across decades. If there were any concerns about Hrithik Roshan playing the famous character in the remake of the popular movie starring Vijay Sethupathi, the actor dispelled them all. While many might be afraid to reimagine such a well-known character, Hrithik gave his performance of Vedha a merciless, menacingly insane, yet endearing, and delectably impish tone. This wasn’t the first instance of Hrithik Roshan’s interpretation of an iconic role being well received. In the past he stepped into the shoes of Vijay Deenanath Chauhan, a cult favourite that was originally played by Amitabh Bachchan. Not only did Hrithik’s Agneepath break the record for the highest-opening day for a film in India but several even stated it was as good as the original, if not better.
Hrithik is presently filming Fighter , India's first aerial action movie and one of the most eagerly awaited projects that marks his first collaboration with Deepika Padukone, after the appreciation he garnered for Vikram Vedha.
