That the much awaited and most talked about wedding of Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal is just around the corner, it seems that everyone is super busy with the same. At the same time, there also exists a certain section of people who have been talking about the religious aspect of inter-faith marriage, which was evident from the criticism the two had been getting from extremists and also the internet trolls.
And this is the same topic which Bollywood actress Swara Bhasker had addressed in her recent interview with Connect Cine. When asked about Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal’s wedding, Swara Bhasker told the show’s host that to wait and watch when they (Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal) have a child. She added that there will be a separate debate around the child’s name.
Swara, in the same breath, stated that, all of us have seen it happen (criticism and trolling regarding the child’s names) with Kareena Kapoor Khan and her husband Saif Ali Khan’s children. She also added that, even in her case, there too was the same criticism which she had faced regarding her child’s name. While she termed the whole scenario as ‘completely idiotic’, Swara also said that this was not going to end anytime soon.
In the same interview, Swara also added that, the interfaith couples will have to face such backlash for the foreseeable future. For the unversed, she faced immense backlash and was also subjected to many online trolls after she got married to activist Fahad Ahmad. She also cited the example of her marriage, when lots of experts offered their opinions. In the same breath, she added that the whole situation is all about two consenting adults and what they do in their private lives is nobody’s business.
As for the marriage of Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal, the date has been decided as June 23, 2024, in Bastian, Mumbai.
