Here's what Ajith told Venkat Prabhu about Vijay's The GOAT and it is proof that friendship can exist between stars

Contrary to the rivalries between their fan clubs, Kollywood superstars Ajith and Vijay share a warm friendship, according to director Venkat Prabhu. Ahead of the grand release of Thalapathy Vijay’s upcoming film The Greatest of All Time, director Venkat Prabhu shared what his Mankatha star Ajith said when he revealed his plans to make The GOAT with Thalapathy Vijay.  

Ajith encouraged me to work with Vijay, says Venkat Prabhu

The director revealed that Thala Ajith had always encouraged him to collaborate with Thalapathy Vijay and expressed his joy when Venkat Prabhu mentioned their collaboration on The Greatest of All Time. “Ajith Sir had mentioned as far back as during Mankatha that it would be fantastic for me to collaborate on a project with Vijay. When I later informed him about working on The GOAT, he responded, Great! Make sure you do it exceptionally well,’” the director shared. 

Delving deeper into the special bond shared by Kollywood’s biggest superstars, the director further revealed that Ajith and Vijay have always interacted like friends, contrary to how the media and fan clubs perceive their relationship. Recalling an incident, Venkat Prabhu mentioned that when Ajith was unwell, Vijay personally spoke to him over the phone. The conversation is proof of a cordial relationship. “A few days ago, when Ajith Sir wasn't feeling well, I went to visit him. Before leaving, I informed Vijay Sir, 'I'm going to visit Ajith Anna.' Vijay Sir responded, 'Hand him the phone when you get there.' When I did, the two of them had a warm, casual, and happy conversation, just like friends,” the director recalled. 

The director also added that Ajith has been a well-wisher in his life, advising him to make The GOAT an even bigger project than Mankatha. “At the beginning of the project, Ajith Sir told me, 'Make it a hundred times better than Mankatha’. That day, I could sense a positive energy in him,” the director added.

For those unfamiliar, Thala Ajith collaborated with director Venkat Prabhu on Mankatha in 2011, which marked Ajith’s 50th film. The film went on to become one of the most iconic releases of its time.

Interestingly, Ajith and Venkat Prabhu were recently spotted together in Baku, Azerbaijan, where Ajith was shooting the last schedule for his upcoming film Vidaamuyarchi. After their picture together went viral, many fans speculated whether the actor will be making a cameo appearance in Vijay and Venkat Prabhu’s upcoming film The Greatest of All Time.

Meanwhile, Vijay and Venkat Prabhu’s upcoming sci-fi action thriller The Greatest of All Time is scheduled to hit the big screens on September 5, 2024. The film marks the maiden collaboration between the actor and director and is set to be a high-voltage actioner.  

On the other hand, Ajith-starrer Vidaamuyarchi, which is currently in its post-production stage, is speculated to have a Diwali release this year. The road actioner is directed by Magizh Thirumeni.
