Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai: Pooja Hegde to play second leading lady in Varun Dhawan-starrer | Deets inside

Bollywood actress Pooja Hegde is all set to make her first on-screen appearance with Bollywood star Varun Dhawan in his next film, titled Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai. The reports reveal that the actress will play the second lead in David Dhawan's comedy-drama film, while actress Mrunal Thakur will be the leading lady of the film.

Pooja Hegde to star with Varun Dhawan in Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai

According to the latest reports, actress Pooja Hegde will star alongside actor Varun Dhawan in David Dhawan’s next film, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai. The report adds that Pooja has replaced South actress Sreeleela in the film who walked out of the movie due to scheduling conflicts.

Speaking about the film, Pooja told Times of India that she has a bunch of new projects coming in and that she would let the production house announce it. "Going ahead, you are going to see me in different roles. This year, I decided to take a step back, watch my entire filmography, and decide what I want to do next,”  she added.

The film will also mark the third collaboration between David and his son Varun, the other being the 2014-released film Main Tera Hero and the 2017 film Judwaa 2.

Varun Dhawan last appeared on the silver screen in a guest appearance in the blockbuster film Stree 2 as Bhediya. Currently, he is gearing up for the release of his action-adventure web series Citadel: Honey Bunny on Netflix.

Pooja, on the other hand, was last seen alongside Bollywood actor Salman Khan in Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. The film did not go well with the audience and tanked at the box office.

The leading lady of Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, actress Mrunal Thakur recently portrayed the role of Divya in Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD. Before Kalki 2898 AD, the actress featured alongside Telugu star Vijay Deverakonda in The Family Star.

Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai was supposed to mark the Hindi film debut of actress Sreeleela, who was earlier seen in Telugu film Guntur Kaaram along with Mahesh Babu. However, she opted out of the project.
