Guruvayoor Ambala Nadayil will 'reintroduce Prithviraj': Director Vipin Das

Filmmaker Vipin Das revealed that he was blown away by Prithviraj Sukumaran's ability to deliver a comedic performance in the upcoming movie "Guruvayoor Ambala Nadayil." He admitted that he initially worried whether Prithviraj would be miscast in such a full-fledged, out-and-out comedy movie. However, all his worries disappeared when he saw Prithviraj seamlessly transform into his role.

"Looking at the trailer, the audience might imagine that Prithviraj's performance is over the top, but you will only understand it fully when you watch the movie. You see Prithviraj striking a power pose (in the trailer), right? That scene would be the highlight of the movie. That character is like that," Vipin Das told Galatta Plus.

Speculations are rife that Prithviraj has essayed the role of an antagonist in the comedy-drama. The film also stars Basil Joseph, a known comedy star, in the lead.

"I had several doubts and questions about how Prithviraj will handle comedy. He used to ask me every time whether the comedy was working. I used to assure him that it was. The whole cast and crew, after watching the movie, unanimously agreed that Prithviraj had done excellent work," he added.

Vipin Das is so confident about Prithviraj's performance in Guruvayoor Ambala Nadayil that he claimed this film will "reintroduce Prithviraj" to his fans. "You will see a new Prithviraj in this movie. I don't know what kind of reviews this film will get or what will be its commercial performance. (But) the way Prithviraj has played his character and his style of comedy has worked very well. I do not doubt that Prithviraj will make you laugh," he promised.

The teaser revealed that "Guruvayoor Ambala Nadayil" revolves mainly around the struggles of an unmarried man, played by Basil Joseph. This is Basil's second collaboration with Vipin after "Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey," which was a big hit both critically and commercially in 2022.

"Guruvayoor Ambala Nadayil," which also stars Nikhila Vimal, Anaswara Rajan, and Yogi Babu, will hit the screens on May 16.
