Filmmaker R. S. Durai Senthilkumar has penned the screenplay for Garudan, based on a story provided by ace director Vetrimaaran. It's touted to mark Durai's comeback after his last few films didn't fare well both commercially and critically.
Durai made an impressive directorial debut with Ethir Neechal in 2013, which was a huge critical and box office hit, launching Sivakarthikeyan's career as a lead actor. However, his subsequent movies, including Kaaki Sattai and Pattas, failed to meet audience and critics' expectations.
Before the release of Garudan, Durai promised that he had avoided all the creative mistakes he made with his previous film while assuring a memorable theatrical experience.
Based on the trailer, Garudan delves into the internal struggles of a loyal servant, portrayed by Soori. Set against a rural backdrop, the protagonist's moral values are tested when his master ends up stealing the wealth of the village temple. Will the hero choose what's right or remain loyal to his master and defend him in all situations? This moral conundrum appears to be the primary source of drama in the movie.
Garudan also stars M. Sasikumar and Unni Mukundan in lead roles.
