Gandhi: AR Rahman joins Hansal Mehta and Pratik Gandhi's show; fans can't wait for the 'special collaboration'

Today is Gandhi Jayanti, the day when Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi aka Father Of The Nation was born. And what better day than this day to make an announcement about a music maestro joining hands and coming on board with a series that is based on Gandhi. Well… we are indeed talking about the one and only A R Rahman.

That the prolific filmmaker Hansal Mehta is making a series titled Gandhi with Pratik Gandhi in the lead, is something that almost everyone knows by now. The latest update on the same is that, the Music Maestro A R Rahman has now come on board as the music director.

Today, Hansal Mehta took to social media and made the grand announcement. He posted a mini teaser of sorts with Pratik Gandhi in it and A R Rahman’s humming vocals playing in the background. Hansal Mehta then captioned the said post as, ‘Musical Maestro A.R. Rahman joins Team Gandhi! On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, we remember the Mahatma and are thrilled to announce this very special collaboration!’.

Within minutes of him posting the announcement, there were many fans and followers who took to the comments section and expressed their immense happiness. While one wrote, ‘Wow! When and where can we watch this? This is the best news of the day and will be that for the entire life of mine and everyone else’.

Another user posted, ‘You just cannot wake up to better news than this one that the best in business are coming together for the series that will be the best in box office. As for direction, there is Hansal Mehta, and for acting there is Pratik Gandhi and now for music, there is A R Rahman. Can it get any bigger and better than this one’!

Speaking about him coming on board, the music maestro A R Rahman, in a media note stated, ‘A.R. Rahman, “Watching Gandhiji’s younger life is a revelation—his experiments with truth, life, and so many other things show the evolution of his character. I am deeply honored to be scoring the music for this story, in collaboration with Applause Entertainment and under the articulate direction of Hansal Mehta.”

On the other hand, there was Hansal Mehta, who expressed his utmost joy by saying, ‘”andhi is a deeply human retelling of M K Gandhi’s life story, a story that continues to inspire generations. Having A.R. Rahman join us on this journey is truly a dream come true. His music has the unique ability to elevate storytelling and for a project of this scale and significance, we couldn’t think of anyone better to bring the emotional and spiritual nuances of Gandhi’s life to the forefront.”

As for the series Gandhi, besides Pratik Gandhi, it stars stellar performers like Bhamini Oza, Tom Felton, Steven Peace, Luke Mably and others. While the series will be streamed on SonyLIV., so far, the release date has not been announced. The viewers are eagerly waiting for the makers to announce the streaming date of Gandhi.
