Fresh pair alert: Vaani Kapoor confirmed to star in Raid 2 with Ajay Devgn

After announcing the release date of Ajay Devgn starrer Raid 2, the makers have now onboarded Vaani Kapoor as the leading lady of the film. While Ajay Devgn reprises his role as the honest IRS officer Amay Patnaik, Vaani will be taking the baton from Ileana D’Cruz in the second instalment of the film. 

As per a report on Peepingmoon.com, Ileana had to opt out of Raid 2 owing to personal commitments, paving the way for Vaani to step in. The actress who made her debut with the 2013 film Shudh Desi Romance, will be seen essaying the role of Ajay’s wife in Raid 2. Vaani has also started shooting for her part. She was last seen in Shamshera alongside Ranbir Kapoor in 2022.

The first film that released in 2018 was loosely based on real-life incidents. Raid 2 will also be following a true case from the department of Income Tax, celebrating the unsung heroes of the department.

Reportedly, Saurabh Shukla too will be seen reprising his character of Tauji in the upcoming sequel. However, it is unclear if he will continue to play the main antagonist or the makers will make another addition in the second part. Some reports also suggest that the main antagonist of the film is yet to be finalised.

Directed by Rajkumar Gupta, Raid 2 went on floors on January 6, 2024 in Mumbai and it will be shot extensively in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. The screenplay of the film has been written by Raj Kumar Gupta, Ritesh Shah, Jaydeep Yadav, and Karan Vyas. Produced by T-Series and Panorama Studios, Raid 2 is all set to hit the theatres on November 15, 2024.
