Exclusive: Rajveer Deol & Paloma on starring in a Barjatya film, manifesting collabs with SLB and Imtiaz Ali

Rajveer Deol and Paloma are all set to make their much-awaited debut with Dono. The movie also marks the directorial debut of Sooraj Barjatya’s son Avnish Barjatya. In an exclusive chat with Desimartini, the debutantes got candid about starring in a Barjatya movie. They also revealed the directors who are on their bucket list for the future.

An excited Paloma said, “I’ve always loved watching all the movies by Rajshri Productions. Their films always had a fun family element and cater to all age groups. I had always enjoyed it while growing up. I think with this particular script, Avnish (Barjatya) has brought today’s story into the picture which is relevant to all the youngsters. The way the script is written, our characters are very layered and real. As newcomers and actors, it has been super exciting to play these roles. We got to experience so many different emotions so I feel very lucky to have gotten this chance to be starting with them as my first movie.”

On the other hand, Rajveer Deol said, “I was actually taken aback with how the script was written and how I could really relate to it. Any movie you watch, you kind of try to put yourself in the character’s shoes and I found it to be ideal as my first movie to put my skills to test. That really attracted me to the script.”

Apart from this, Rajveer Deol and Paloma also named three directors whom they are manifesting to work with after Dono. Rajveer said, “As a newcomer, I really want to work with everyone but yes I would really like to collaborate with Raju Hirani, Anurag Kashyap, and Imtiaz Ali.” Paloma added in by saying, “I would really like to associate with Imtiaz Ali Sir too. Other than that, Sanjay Leela Bhansali for sure. There are so many yaar, the list will go on and on (laughs).”

Talking about Dono, it will be released on October 5, 2023. It also stars Kanika Kapur, Rohan Khurana, and Aditya Nanda in pivotal roles. It follows the coming together of two individuals at a wedding who are experiencing complicated relationships.
