Abhimanyu Dassani will be seen in a unique avatar in his upcoming masala entertainer film Nikamma . The actor plays the typical commercial action hero for the first time in the movie. In an exclusive interview with Desimartini, he spoke about the challenges that he faced to get into the skin of his character and also spoke about working with his co-star and singer Shirley Setia.
Talking about his prepping session and challenges to essay his character Adi from Nikamma, Abhimanyu Dassani said, “So in Meenakshi Sundareshwar, I had lost 10 kilos and all my muscles for that role. But for Nikamma, I had to gain around 7-8 kilos because I'm looking very muscular. You know how 'Nikammas' are boys who don't really take care of themselves and so I have an out-of-belt look. I have stubble and have also grown heavy cheeks for this movie. You must have always come across one such guy in your life at least once who's always sleepy and will rant to you about his lack of sleep. So that's one trait that I'd wished to pick up from real life for Nikamma. You would see me with dark circles and not taking care of myself in the film. I’ve also seen many films of Govinda Sir and even my voice has changed if you look at it in the trailer. If you've seen the trailer carefully, my voice in the first and second half of the trailer is different. So, my voice and my walk from Meenakshi Sundareshwar is very different from this movie.”
Apart from this, the Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota actor spoke about working with Shirley Setia in the movie. Speaking on what helped to showcase seamless chemistry between them in Nikamma, Abhimanyu Dassani said, “Just being a good human being and being nice as well as professional towards what you want to achieve. Also if you're focused which fortunately my co-stars have been and Shirley you know is a very sweet, cute, professional, and down-to-earth girl. It was easy working with her and she's very grounded too. Also if you take your work seriously and enjoy them at the same time plus my workshops with Sabbir (Khan) Sir helped to get into the character.”
