Emergency Trailer OUT: Kangana Ranaut looks fierce and powerful as India's most iconic leader Indira Gandhi
The makers of the political drama film Emergency released the much-awaited trailer on social media on January 6.

After much delay, Kangana Ranaut’s political drama film will be released on January 17. Adding to the buzz of release, Kangana shared the trailer of the upcoming film showcasing the drama that is going to unfold on the silver screen. The trailer showcases the transformation of Kangana as Indira Gandhi who changed the face of India’s democracy after declaring an Emergency.

Taking to Instagram, Kangana shared the trailer of her upcoming political drama film titled Emergency. The trailer begins with a character played by Anupam Kher sitting inside a prison and writing a letter that says, “Mananiya pradhan mantri ji jaisa ki hum sab dekh rahe hai ab aap kursi nahi ek sher par sawar hai jiski dahad aur khunkhar pure vishwa mein gunjati hai."
The scene follows with the introduction of Kangana Ranaut as Prime Minister Indira Gandhi sitting in her office. It is then shown that she is being advised that to declare an emergency she has to be in agreement with the whole cabinet. To which she replies, “Mein hi cabinet hoon, Rashtrapati ji.”
The trailer showcases activists, politicians among other people being hunted down during the emergency. Kangana as Indira Gandhi tells the cabinet, “Ye satta ko bachane ka ekmatra rasta hai yuddh.”
Later, Milind Soman is introduced as Field Marshall Sam Manekshaw who spearheaded the 1971 Bangladesh war. The trailer then showcases sequences of Indian army men fighting for the freedom of Bangladesh. The trailer describes Indira Gandhi as the 'most controversial leader'. The trailer ends with Kangana's voice in the backdrop, “Indira is India and India is Indira.”
While sharing the trailer on social media, the actress wrote “1975 , Emergency — A Defining chapter in Indian History. Indira: India’s most powerful woman. Her ambition transformed the nation, but her #EMERGENCY plunged it into chaos.”
Emergency is directed, and co-produced by Kangana and will hit the theatres on January 17. The film also features Mahima Chaudhry as Pupul Jayakar, Ashok Chhabra as Morarji Desai, Vishak Nair as Sanjay Gandhi, and the late Satish Kaushik as Jagjivan Ram.
