The last few days have seen a cryptic war of words between the actor-director Divya Khossla on one side and the filmmaker Karan Johar on the other side. It all started off with Divya taking to social media and posting, ‘#Aliabhatt me sach mein Bahut #Jigra hai.. khud hi tickets karide aur fake collections announce kar diye. Wonder why paid media is silent. #weshdnotfooltheaudience #truthoverlies #HappyDussehra.

At this, Karan Johar, who happens to be one of the producers of the film Jigra, took to social media and posted a cryptic post, in which he wrote, ‘Silence is the best speech to answer fools’. To which, she quickly retaliated with another post stating, Truth will always offend fools opposed to it’.

On her part, Divya Khossla in a recent interview with Hindustan Times, said, when she spoke up, Karan Johar used derogatory language to shut her down. She questioned whether it was right to call a woman a fool for pointing out unethical practices and if that happens to her, then, she questioned the ones who were new to the industry.

In the same breath, she added that no one was a king here, and that she wouldn’t be treated like a subject. She added that there were many more derogatory words which were used in their PR articles, and called her taking a stand as a PR stunt, which she ran it down by saying that she did not need one as she was already well known.

While on the topic of Alia Bhatt, Divya Khossla said that she needed to resort to such tactics and she was already well-established and that true heroism was in speaking against wrongdoing. She said that one has to let the audience decide based on merit, not money and power.

Khossla also spoke strongly on the ‘fake box office numbers’ by saying, “We are creative people, we are not in a share market, and by giving fake box office numbers, certain media persons also highlight bad films. When good films work, no one talks about that. These people decide which film will be declared a hit- as tickets are bought and fake collections are announced. And that's why only those people will be able to survive here, who have money. New talent will never be able to enter.”

Besides all this, Divya Khossla also claimed that the Alia Bhatt starrer Jigra was a copy of her film Savi, which was also based on a jailbreak story. While on this topic, she was asked about the ‘connection’ that Alia Bhatt’s uncle Mukesh Bhatt had with both the film (for the unversed, Mukesh Bhatt was the co-producer of Savi), Divya said that even though they had discussed the similarities between both the films with him, she did not want to bring him into the picture because he's got family ties and he's 72. Divya added that she had a deep and respectful relationship with him.
