Director S Shankar has expressed his frustration with creators for allegedly copying scenes from the Tamil novel Veerayuga Nayagan Velpari, for which he holds the copyright. In his latest tweet, Shankar voiced his displeasure, stating that, as the copyright holder of Su. Venkatesan’s novel, he was 'disturbed' to see key scenes being ripped off and used without permission. He further expressed his disappointment over a specific incident, stating that he was 'upset to see a key scene in a recently released movie trailer.'

Shankar gives stern warning over copyright issue

Shankar urged makers to refrain from using scenes from the novel in their work and emphasized the need to respect creators' rights. He also warned against unauthorized adaptations, stating that the makers 'must refrain from infringement or face legal action.'

His tweet read, "Attention to all! As the copyright holder of Su. Venkatesan's iconic Tamil novel Nava Yuga Nayagan Vel Paari, I'm disturbed to see key scenes being ripped off & used without permission in many movies. Really upset to see an important key scene from the novel in a recent movie trailer. Kindly refrain from using the scenes from the novel in movies, web series, and any medium. Respect creators' rights! Refrain from unauthorized adaptations of scenes, refrain from infringement, or face legal action!"

Is S Shankar referring to Devara?

Immediately after the tweet went viral, fans began speculating whether the director was targeting the makers of Jr NTR’s upcoming film Devara. For context, the makers of the Telugu action drama had recently unveiled the release trailer, following which director Shankar posted his tweet. While some fans speculate that Devara was the subject of the director's criticism, others believe he may be referring to Suriya’s upcoming film Kanguva, though the trailer for that film has yet to be released.
