Did Akshay Kumar promote Sunny Deol's Gadar 2 in OMG 2? Here's how

Rarely do we come across such a scenario when protagonist of a movie is seen indirectly promoting another movie which is clashing at the box office. Superstar Akshay Kumar in his latest release OMG 2 happened to set the example. The actor, who plays the role of Shiva's messenger, guides his devotee essayed by Pankaj Tripathi in the movie. In one of the scenes, Akshay could be seen reminding fans of Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2.

For the unversed, Akshay’s OMG 2 hit the screens along with Gadar 2 this Friday (August 11, 2023). The film, which touches upon the subject of sex education, sees Shiva’s devotee losing hope in one scene. That’s when Shiva’s messenger Akshay comes outside his house to guide him. He could be heard singing, “Ghar aaja pardesi”, the song from Gadar 2. This is how the actor promoted Sunny Deol’s film in his own movie.

Helmed by Amit Rai, OMG 2 also stars Yami Gautam, Arun Govil, Govind Namdev and Fahim Fazli among others. The film is about a staunch devotee of Lord Shiva, whose son is blamed for immoral conduct and thrown out of school. After realising that his son has been a victim of misinformation and misguidance, Kanti decides to l take on everyone responsible by dragging them to court and Shiva’s messenger guides him through. Bankrolled by Vipul D. Shah, Rajesh Behl, and Ashwin Varde, the film is garnering largely positive reviews upon release.

On the other hand, Gadar 2, the sequel to the 2001 film, sees Sunny Deol Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma reprising their roles as Tara Singh, Sakina and Charanjeet respectively. Set against the backdrop of the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, the movie is about Tara Singh returning to Pakistan to bring his son Charanjeet back home.
