Dhanush and Aishwarya Rajinikanth go ahead with divorce, spotted outside Chennai Court

After 18 years of marriage, actor Dhanush and Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth announced their separation in 2022. The couple are now moving forward with their divorce proceedings with no reconciliation. Recently, they were spotted outside the Chennai Court as they move to finalize their legal separation and have filed a petition seeking divorce.

Notably, the couple had failed to appear at court for the last three hearings but have now decided to finalize their divorce.

Dhanush and Aishwaryaa were spotted at the family court in Chennai wearing masks. The two have confirmed their decision to part ways legally. According to reports, the divorce petition will be finalized on November 27, 2024.

No Reconciliation

Contrary to popular rumors, the couple have quashed speculations about a potential reconciliation and have decided to remain firm in their decision to separate legally. For the unversed, following their public announcement of separation, there were reports indicating a possible reconciliation. However, the couple has now made it clear as they filed the final documents for their divorce.

In 2022, Dhanush announced his separation from Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth, bringing an emotional 18-year journey to a close. In his heartfelt statement, he reflected on their transformation from friends to partners, parents, and ultimately well-wishers for each other. His statement read:

"18 years of togetherness as friends, a couple, as parents, and well-wishers to each other. The journey has been of growth, understanding, adjusting, and adapting... Today, we stand at a place where our paths separate... Aishwaryaa and I have decided to part ways as a couple and take time to understand ourselves as individuals for the better. Please do respect our decision and give us the needed privacy to deal with this."

Dhanush and Aishwaryaa tied the knot in 2004 and are parents to two children, Linga and Yatra.

Dhanush’s other legal battle with Nayanthara

Besides the divorce battle, Dhanush is also embroiled in a legal dispute with actress Nayanthara. She has accused him of preventing her from using behind-the-scenes footage from their movie Naanum Rowdy Dhaan for her Netflix documentary Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale. Additionally, she has criticized him for sending a legal notice demanding Rs. 10 crore in damages for the inclusion of a three-second behind-the-scenes clip from the film.
