Coolie: Lokesh Kanagaraj shares 'enthralling experience’ of working with Soubin Shahir; shares BTS pic on Malayalam actor’s birthday

Happy Birthday, Soubin Shahir! On the special occasion of the Malayalam star’s birthday, director Lokesh Kanagaraj shared a behind-the-scenes picture of the Manjummel Boys star from the upcoming Tamil film Coolie, headlined by superstar Rajinikanth.

Sharing a picture of Soubin on the set, director Lokesh Kanagaraj expressed how much he enjoyed working with the Malayalam actor and conveyed his appreciation in a heartfelt note that read, “Working with you in Coolie has been an enthralling experience, #SoubinShahir sir. Wishing you the absolute best and a very happy birthday, sir.”

The new behind-the-scenes image shows the actor in a grey shirt, with a red towel draped around his neck. Based on his appearance, the character portrayed by Soubin seems intense, adding to the anticipation as both his Tamil and Malayalam fans eagerly await the film's release.

Soubin Shahir to play Dayal in Coolie

As announced in the character reveal poster, Malayalam actor Soubin Shahir will be playing the role of Dayal in Coolie. In the promotional poster shared earlier, the actor appears shirtless, wearing a black thread around his neck, and holding a chunky gold watch while smoking a cigarette, gazing intensely at the watch. Notably, the film marks the Tamil acting debut of the Manjummel Boys star.

Soubin gained popularity with his comedic role as PT lecturer Shivan Sir in Premam and earned further acclaim for his powerful portrayal of Saji in the widely loved film Kumbalangi Nights. His participation in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie has only added to the excitement surrounding the upcoming gangster action drama.
