Citadel Twitter review: Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden starrer gets mixed reactions, all eyes on upcoming episodes
While a section of people called it ‘unique and thrilling’, others were left disappointed with The Russo Brother’s reportedly one of the most expensive series.
The much-anticipated spy-thriller series featuring Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden has finally dropped on Amazon Prime today (April 28, 2023). Within hours of its first two-episode release, fans began raving about the series on Twitter. While a section of people called it ‘unique and thrilling’, others were left disappointed with The Russo Brother’s reportedly one of the most expensive series.
The official synopsis of the show reads, “Eight years ago, Citadel, an independent global spy agency, was destroyed by a new syndicate, Manticore. With their memories wiped, elite agents Mason Kane (Richard Madden) and Nadia Sinh (Priyanka Chopra Jonas) barely escaped with their lives. David Weil serves as the showrunner, and Stanley Tucci, Lesley Manville, Osy Ikhile, Ashleigh Cummings, and Roland Moller among others are also part of the cast.
After watching the first two episodes, one of the Twitter users wrote, “Can't take my eyes off the screen, even for a sec.. story is very unique and thrilling…you feel the adrenaline rush through your veins, with every scene you see. I'm waiting eagerly and impatiently to see more episodes of it. PC, you every time make us Proud.” Another praised Priyanka saying, “Couldn't agree more! The spy and thriller action in #Citadel is truly enthralling. Looking forward to more episodes myself. Priyanka Chopra Jonas is killing it!” Check the positive reactions here:
On the other hand, one of the Twitter users found the series to be ‘generic and cheap looking’. “Amazon spent a reported $300 million for the first season of Citadel, a presumptuous attempt to build a franchise from scratch. The results are terribly generic and shockingly cheap-looking.” Another user commented, “Citadel is of the worst things I’ve ever seen. A $300 million show that no one will even remember exists in two months.”
Meanwhile, Citadel is executive produced by the Russo Brothers’ AGBO and is available in more than 240 countries in multiple languages. Several spin-offs of the shows originating in different countries are already under work. Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu are headlining the Indian adaptation of the series which is under production.
