Chris Hemsworth brings the heat to Extraction 2: 'We lit Chris Hemsworth on fire, and he beat up a bunch of guys all night'

Chris Hemsworth, famous for his action roles in Hollywood, took his reputation a notch higher with the much-anticipated sequel to Netflix's hit movie, Extraction 2. Displaying a level of bravery rarely seen in the industry, Hemsworth was literally set on fire for a sequence in the film. What makes this act even more astonishing is that it was not computer-generated imagery (CGI) but actual fire.

In an interview with Empire Magazine, Extraction 2's director, Sam Hargrave, commended Hemsworth's commitment to authenticity, saying, "Hats off to Chris. It wasn't CG fire. And he had to do it over and over. I don't know a lot of people, let alone Hollywood A-listers, who are going to let you light them on fire while on camera."

In what is touted as an 'oner,' a continuous shot meticulously crafted from a series of long shots, Hemsworth's character, Tyler Rake, makes a dramatic escape from prison while one of his arms is on fire. Amidst the intense action, Hemsworth thrashes his opponents single-handedly. According to Hargrave, "We lit Chris Hemsworth on fire, and he beat up a bunch of guys all night. It was pretty incredible to watch."

The term 'oner' is no stranger to fans of the original Extraction film. The first installment boasted a 12-minute single-shot sequence, a heart-pounding spectacle filmed with director Hargrave attached to the front of a moving car. Extraction 2 looks set to carry forward this adrenaline-fueled tradition with an even longer and more intense sequence.

Hemsworth's bravery and dedication, coupled with Hargrave's audacious direction, promise a visual extravaganza as Extraction 2 premieres on Netflix on June 16. Joe and Anthony Russo, under their AGBO banner, wrote and produced the movie. Alongside Hemsworth, the film stars Golshifteh Farahani, Daniel Bernhardt, and Tinatin Dalakishvili.

Extraction 2 builds upon the storyline of its prequel, which was based on the graphic novel Ciudad by Ande Parks, and looks set to deliver an action-packed cinematic experience that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
