Kartik Aaryan-starrer Chandu Champion weekend collection
According to Sacnilk.com, Chandu Champion earned Rs 21.75 crore three days after its release. The film earned Rs 4.75 crore on its opening day on June 14 and later earned Rs 7 crore on its first Saturday.
Even after earning Rs 10 crore on its first Sunday, Chandu Champion is Kartik Aaryan's second-lowest weekend since his debut film Pyaar Ka Punchnama. His 2023 film Shehzada earned Rs 20.20 crore in its opening weekend, while Kartik’s first film post-pandemic, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, which was released in 2022, earned Rs 55.96 crore over its first weekend. Satyaprem Ki Katha also made Rs 37.35 crore during the weekend.
Kartik's last film which made less than Rs 4 crore on day 1 was Ashwni Dhir's 2017 comedy film Guest Iin London. Kartik is one of the leading actors of Bollywood who revived the industry after the Covid-19 pandemic with his horror comedy film Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 which opened with Rs 14.11 crore.
Kartik Aaryan on box office numbers
Speaking about the impact of box office numbers during an interview with Free Press Journal, Kartik said that box office numbers don’t matter for a film like Chandu Champion. “I hope people would remember this role in my filmography. It’s the story that is the need of the hour. The film will inspire millions of people to achieve their dreams. I feel, such a character comes rarely in life. Box office numbers won’t matter,” he said.
The film has to compete with Maddock Film’s horror comedy Munjya which crossed the Rs 50-crore mark. Chandu Champion will soon have to battle Nag Ashwin's much-awaited film, Kalki 2898 AD, which releases on June 27.
Chandu Champion is jointly backed by Sajid Nadiadwala and Kabir Khan. Helmed by Kabir Khan, the film also stars Vijay Raaz, Bhuvan Arora and Rajpal Yadav in key roles. Chandu Champion tells the real-life story of India’s first paralympic gold medalist Murlikant Petkar.
