Capsule Gill: Parineeti Chopra reunites with Kesari co-star Akshay Kumar for film based on 1989 Raniganj coal mine tragedy

Actor Parineeti Chopra is roped in as the female lead in Akshay Kumar ’s upcoming film tentatively titled Capsule Gill. The film is based on the real-life incident of the 1989 Raniganj coal mine tragedy.

The upcoming film is being helmed by Tinu Suresh Desai, who is known for directing Akshay’s 2016 film Rustom . The film will see Akshay stepping into the shoes of former chief mining engineer Jaswant Singh Gill , who rescued 65 miners trapped in the flooded coal mine in Raniganj, West Bengal in 1989. According to Bollywood Hungama , Parineeti has signed up for the project opposite Akshay. The actress earlier worked with Akshay in the 2019 film Kesari .

According to the Peeping moon report, the filmmaker had been working on the inspirational story of Jaswant Singh Gill for the past five years. The director has also communicated with Jaswant’s son Dr. Sarvpreet Singh Gill for more information about the real-life incident. Furthermore, Desai has also acquired the rights to make the film on Gill’s life. The movie is being bankrolled by Ajay Kapoor of Kyta Productions and Vashu Bhagnani of Pooja Entertainment .

Meanwhile, on the work front, Parineeti will next be seen in Sooraj Barjatya ’s Uunchai alongside Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher, Boman Irani , and Neena Gupta. Besides it, she also has Imtiaz Ali ’s Amar Singh Chamkila opposite Diljit Dosanjh and an untitled film directed by Ribhu Dasgupta. Last year, she was seen in Saina , the biopic on shuttler Saine Nehwal; Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar alongside Arjun Kapoor , and The Girl on the Train.

On the other hand, Akshay has several projects in the pipeline including Ram Setu , Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan, Oh My God 2, Mission Cinderella, Soorarai Pottru remake, and Selfiee . He is currently awaiting the release of his period drama, Samrat Prithviraj on June 3.
