'Can't stop watching her': Shakira’s blockbuster performance at MTV VMAs sends the crowd into a frenzy; watch

Columbian singer-songwriter Shakira set the stage on fire as she performed in a medley of all her hits at the VMA Awards on September 12, 2023, at the Prudential Center in New Jersey. She also became the first South American artist to win the Video Vanguard Award. Not only this, the ‘Waka Waka’ singer became the second Latin artist after Jennifer Lopez to receive the award.

Talking about the performance, Shakira wore a shimmery and sequinned gold-colored outfit as she began her act in the most scintillating manner. From a tubular hallway, the Columbian star could be seen churning out some yoga poses and soon went on to pull off some robotic dance steps. She started with her song ‘She Wolf’ and transitioned to her 2022 chartbuster ‘Te Felicito’ which was in collaboration with Rauw Alejandro. Take a look at the performance which left the crowd in a daze.

Shakira then crooned her song ‘TGQ’ a collaboration with Karol G which also went on to win the Best Collaboration Award. The ‘Whenever Wherever’ singer sent the crowd roaring as she recreated her 2006 VMA performance with an extended version of ‘Objection (Tango).” Grabbing an electric guitar soon after that, she literally bought in an entire thunderstorm at the stage. Not to forget, when she switched on to her iconic number ‘Hips Don’t Lie’, she even made Taylor Swift groove to her feet.

While accepting the award, Shakira expressed gratitude to her team members Jaume de Laiguana and Maite Marcos. She thanked her sons Milan and Sasha saying, “for making me happy and making me feel that mom can do anything.” Lastly, she gave some love to her beloved fans for standing with her through thick and thin.
