Bougainvillea Trailer: Jyothirmayi stuns as a crime suspect in this Fahadh Faasil-Kunchacko Boban starrer | Watch

The most awaited update is here! Malayalam director Amal Neerad has finally dropped the highly anticipated trailer of his upcoming film Bougainvillea. Taking to his social media pages, the director released the trailer, which stars Kunchacko Boban, Jyothirmayi and Fahadh Faasil in the lead roles.

The new trailer opens with Jyothirmayi's character, Reethu, running away from someone in a sunflower field. However, it is revealed that it was just a nightmare, as she wakes up startled. Kunchacko Boban, who plays her husband, Dr. Royce Thomas, explains that they had an accident some time ago, which affected her memory and behaviour, leading to her fixation on painting bougainvillea flowers.

The trailer then introduces us to David Koshy, an assistant commissioner, played by Fahadh Faasil. David is on a mission to uncover details about Reethu, who is suspected of abducting and killing some people. According to the police lead, Reethu was spotted in CCTV footage following a woman named Chaaya. It seems Reethu is hiding something suspicious from her loved ones, but her husband Royce defends her, claiming she can only hide things if she remembers them. The trailer then highlights strange behavioral changes in Reethu, who now believes she is being watched. There are hints that Reethu and Chaaya share some kind of connection, while the visuals showcase Srinda's character Rema and Veena's character Meera, who are linked to Reethu's case. Reethu is seen questioning Royce about what happened on the night of their accident, raising suspicions that she might be fabricating lies.

The trailer ends on a cliffhanger with Reethu asking Rema about who is spending so much on her paintings, leaving audiences intrigued.

The trailer has all the essence of a classic Amal Neerad film--right from the slow-motion visuals to the neutral and bright red color grading. To find out what Reethu, played by Jyothirmayi, is hiding, we will have to wait until October 17, 2024!

Bougainvillea cast

Headlined by Jyothirmayi, Kunchacko Boban, and Fahadh Faasil, Bougainvillea also features Sharaf U Dheen as Biju, Veena Nandakumar as Meera, and Srinda as Rema. On the technical side, cinematography is handled by Anend C Chandran, while editing is by Vivek Harshan. The film is produced under the banners of Amal Neerad Productions and Udhaya Pictures.

Bougainvillea is scheduled for release on October 17, 2024.
