    Jiiva's upcoming horror thriller Black is gearing up for its grand theatrical release on October 11, 2024. Ahead of the film’s debut, the team held a pre-release event, where the cast and crew addressed the media, sharing insights about their experiences during production.

    During one of the speeches, director Balasubramani revealed that the Tamil film is an official remake of a Hollywood movie, though he refrained from revealing the name, promising that more details would come later. However, netizens have already speculated which Hollywood film Black is based on.

    According to some media reports, Black is believed to be a remake of the 2013 sci-fi thriller Coherence. Directed by James Ward in his debut, the film stars Emily Baldoni and Lauren Maher, and follows a woman as she experiences strange events after a comet passes.

    Initially promoted as a horror movie, the makers of Black recently clarified that it is a science fiction thriller, adding more intrigue to the speculation surrounding its Hollywood source material.

    The trailer which was released earlier, introduces Jiiva’s character and his wife, played by Priya Bhavani Shankar, who move into a newly built gated community. Shortly after settling in, they begin to experience eerie and paranormal activities and suspect they are trapped. The trailer hints at their desperate attempts to escape the isolated community, suggesting a suspenseful plot that extends beyond conventional horror, though the story takes place over a single night.

    Director Balasubramani explained that the title Black symbolizes the darkness surrounding us and can also represent the hidden aspects of human nature that make it hard for others to truly understand us. He emphasized that the film explores these themes through intense, fast-paced moments, focusing on the events that unfold for the couple throughout one night.

    On the technical front, Black features an original score and soundtrack composed by Sam CS, with editing by Philomin Raj and cinematography by Gokul Benoy.
