There are many terms which can be rightly used to describe Sana Makbul, the proud winner of the recently concluded Anil Kapoor hosted reality show Bigg Boss OTT 3. These terms can range from ‘super stunning’, ‘super confident’, ‘polite’, ‘BFF’, a friend for life… and much more. Amongst all this, the only term that just does not fit her persona is being politically correct, which is what forms the crux of this exclusive interview with DesiMartini. Over to you, Sana…

Sana… you came across as someone who believes in not talking much about your work and rather, letting your work speak for itself. Is it how you are in real life?
Yes, it's true. I am exactly that kind of person. I firmly believe in letting my work speak for itself, more than me talking about it.

Right from the time you started off with Ishaan: Sapno Ko Awaaz De, till Bigg Boss OTT 3. How has your journey been so far?
It has definitely been one roller coaster of a ride. (laughs). Jokes apart, the journey has been wonderful. It's like a full circle now. It’s a perfect example of slow and steady wins the race. After having started life with humble beginnings, I have come here… to where I am!

Looking back, in the beauty pageant, you had won ‘Miss Beautiful Smile’. But, in the Big Boss OTT 3 house, there were many who did not like to see you smile. How do you deal with such people?
Irrespective of what others may do to me, I am somebody who has always been the happy go lucky kind of person. That is exactly the kind of person that I am and I will continue to be so. And for all those who did not let me smile, the answer is for everyone to see! Even when I am low, my smile will not leave my face. All the things which are happening with me right now... it’s all so new to me!

How would you like to describe the entire Bigg Boss OTT 3 journey?
This is one journey, which helped me in judging people. I do make bad decisions when it comes to judging people whether they are good or bad! But there is a difference today in my overall approach towards people. I am more confident and smarter than before, when it comes to judging people.

Post your Bigg Boss journey, have you become ‘politically correct’?
No! I am still the same Sana who I was before entering the Bigg Boss house. If I wanted to be politically correct, I would not have told in my entire journey of Bigg Boss that I wanted to win the show. Right from day one, I was only manifesting myself to be a winner. I have a way of dealing with things and people around me. I am a totally self-made person. And for many who think that I am on cloud nine, let me tell you that, I am still grounded and will always do that. I want to be on cloud nine as far as my career is concerned.

Many saw you being cornered inside the Bigg Boss OTT 3 house. How did you deal with it?
I personally feel that life and the varied experience that it brings along with it are the best teachers one could ever ask for. I have trust issues in life. And, I have been very vocal about it. My life has taught me the way I am today. I wanted to live my life the way I wanted to live, and which is what I am doing right now.

Are you open to taking advice from people now?
Of course… but, in the end, I will do what I feel is right.

It seemed that many people were just not happy with you winning the Bigg Boss OTT 3. It definitely must have felt bad…
I definitely felt bad about it... of course! If you saw me during the show, I was happy in everyone’s happiness. That’s why I felt, now that the show has ended, one needs to end the cold war as well… but, sadly, that was just not the case! I got to know much later that; they were instructed not to come on stage. But the least that they could have done is to feel happy for me and my success. Bigg Boss has taught me who is my own and who are not! The ones who are my own are the ones who were happy with me. And, outside the BB house, it was my family who stood by me throughout!

What’s the first thing that you did after coming home?
I ate ‘ghar ka khaana’ as the first thing! And, then, there was a birthday celebration of a child in my house.

You were also that somebody who was seen openly talking to Armaan Malik and asking him questions.
I am today's girl. As I said, I ask and tell whatever is in my heart!

That brings me to my immediate question. Does being a straightforward person make the eventual journey difficult for a contestant while inside the Bigg Boss house
Yes it does. A lot of people will not like it. There were many who always used to tell me that I have a very intimidating personality and that one really gets scared to even talk to me. All that I wanted my fellow contestants to do was to come and ask me whether whatever you heard was true or not. One just cannot hear just one side of any story and make a mindset!

Who has been your best friend/s for life inside the Bigg Boss OTT 3 house?
I just can't name any one person. I was, I am and will be friends forever with Vishal, Naezy, Lovekesh and Shivani.

Who is that one/ two person/s whom you never want to cross paths with?
    Armaan Malik and Ranvir Shorey.

What next in your life, now that you have won many hearts as well as the Bigg Boss OTT 3 trophy?
You will hear about my next venture very soon…

You have always spoken about constructing a dream house for your mother. So, the RS. 25 lakhs that you won… will it go in building that dream house?
    (smiling)… Of course yes..
