The Salman Khan hosted Bigg Boss 18, which is presently on air, and saw the presence of a very unusual contestant. Salman Khan, while introducing this ‘unusual contestant’ was named as Gadhraj, which happens to be a donkey. There were many who thought of the whole thing as funny. At the same time, the officials in PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) did not think of the whole thing as funny at all.

Keeping in mind all of this, the makers of Bigg Boss 18 have now decided to remove the donkey Gadhraj from the show. On their part, the officials in PETA wrote a letter to the makers of Bigg Boss 18. In the letter it was mentioned, ‘We are being inundated with complaints by members of the public who are deeply distressed over the keeping of a donkey in the Bigg Boss house’.

It added, ‘Their concerns are valid and must not be ignored," the letter stated. Describing the situation as 'distressing,' PETA India urged the host to use his influence as the host and star to ‘surrender the donkey to PETA India, to rehome in a sanctuary with other rescued donkeys.’

An NGO called PFA (People For Animals) took to social media and expressed their heartfelt thanks to Maneka Gandhi (Chairperson, People For Animals). In the post, it was stated, ‘Thanks to Smt. Maneka Sanjay Gandhi, Chairperson, People For Animals, for her intervention in this matter. This success was made possible through the collective efforts of everyone in the community who stood up for the donkey’s release’.

This post garnered many likes and comments. One user wrote, ‘Animals are not slaves or entertainment or transport or food. No excuse for animal abuse. Amazing no form of animal abuse should be tolerated at any cost. Power of compassion. Hats off to you guys.. jiska koi nhi uska roh khuda yaaron.. that poor guy will have faith in God from now.. long live pfa’.

Another user wrote, ‘Finally!!!!! I think there’s a serious problem with getting educated about animal wellbeing, how stupid of them to think donkey on the show was funny? Hope he's fine in a safe environment where he can get over this trauma calmly. Great news... Thanks alot menaka mam, the pfa team, and all who are help to rescue. Salute all of u. Thank god! The heights to which these shows go just for so called entertainment purposes is insane.. No baccha should ever go through it.’.
