Banita Sandhu
Indian fans of Bridgerton are in for a treat, as Banita Sandhu has made a rather glamorous entrance in the latest season of Bridgerton. Banita plays Indian-origin Miss Malhotra in Bridgerton Season 3. Here is all you need to know about Banita’s role in Bridgerton.
Banita Sandhu is Miss Malhotra in Bridgerton Season 3
Banita is introduced in the first episode of the third season of Bridgerton. She plays Miss Malhotra, one of the most eligible bachelorettes in town. According to Lady Whistledown, Miss Malhotra is a highly sought-after prospect, adding intrigue and excitement to the season. In the second episode of Season 3, Miss Malhotra reveals the qualities she seeks in her husband: a lover of poetry who will give her butterflies in her stomach at first glance.
Banita is introduced as an Indian-origin, high-class woman who has made her debut in high-society London to find a suitor for marriage. Although Banita is a side character, she captures our attention with her enchanting beauty and glamorous attire.
Besides Banita’s looks, she doesn't seem to have much scope to show off her acting abilities or Indian roots. Banita's addition to the series seems like a tokenism of inclusivity, which we did not feel with Kathina Sharma (Simone Ashley), who embraced her culture through her attire and spoke about India often. Banita simply stands as one of Eloise’s potential friends who is in awe of her and wants to hear her speak.
There is no character arc to Banita’s story. There is no mention of why she left India and went to Britain to find a suitor. She doesn’t speak her mind and is overshadowed by the other women or her mother, Lady Malhotra.
