Ahead of the anticipated release of director Mari Selvaraj’s film Vaazhai, the makers arranged a premiere show for celebrities and directors from the industry. Many celebrities who watched the children’s film heaped praise on the director and were awestruck by the impressive performances and narration showcased by the filmmaker. 

However, it was director Bala’s reaction that moved the internet. In a video clip shared by Mari Selvaraj, director Bala is seen giving Mari Selvaraj a warm hug and a peck on the cheek after walking out of the theater. The acclaimed Tamil cinema director appears speechless after watching the emotional drama and does not utter a single word to the fellow filmmaker. The clip also shows the director sitting with Selvaraj, holding his hands, as he struggles to find words. 

Mari Selvaraj, who shared the video on his social media, captioned it: “Kiss—Thank you, Bala Sir #Vaazhai Tomorrow.” 

 The new clip, which has been going viral on social media platforms, has fans and netizens amazed at how Mari Selvaraj’s film was able to render director Bala speechless. Bala’s emotional gesture is winning over the internet. Interestingly, many viewers who watched the film at its premiere show also felt the same and expressed their admiration for Mari Selvaraj for crafting an inspiring yet touching emotional drama that resonates with many.

Vaazhai plot and cast

Based on an incident from the director’s childhood, Vaazhai follows the life of Sivanandhan, a twelve-year-old boy, and a plantain tree that plays a crucial role in the film. The movie is written, directed, and produced by Mari Selvaraj, and it stars Ponvel M, Raghul R, Kalaiyarasan, Nikhila Vimal, J Sathish Kumar, Dhivya Duraisamy, and Janaki in key roles. This film also marks Mari Selvaraj’s debut as a producer; he has bankrolled the movie alongside his wife, Divya Mari Selvaraj. On the technical front, Santhosh Narayanan has composed the original score and soundtracks, Theni Eswar serves as the cinematographer, and Suriya Pradhaman handles the editing. 

Vaazhai is slated to be released on August 23, 2024.
