Director Ali Abbas Zafar recently filed a complaint against Vashu Bhagnani of Pooja Entertainment over not paying him Rs 7.30 crore, his fees for directing Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. Days after the complaint was filed with the Directors’ Association, the producer hit back by filing a complaint against the filmmaker for misappropriation of funds.

Vashu, along with his son Jackky Bhagnani, has filed a complaint against Bade Miyan Chote Miyan director Ali Abbas Zafar for emptying the subsidy funds he took from Abu Dhabi authorities during the shoot. The father-son duo has accused Ali of “coercion, criminal breach of trust, extortion, blackmailing, criminal intimidation, harassment, criminal defamation and money laundering”.

Ali’s uncleared dues for directing Bade Miyan Chote Miya

Earlier, Ali had filed a complaint with the Directors’ Association against Vashu Bhagnani of Pooja Entertainment for not paying him his fees for directing Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. After the complaint was filed, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) sent a letter to the producer seeking an explanation for the unpaid fees. The FWICE noted that several technicians, workers, artists, and vendors associated with the production house have filed complaints of non-payment of dues.

The organization said, "We have gone through all the contracts and concluded that our workers, technicians, artists, and vendors owe a huge amount of money which the said producer will have to pay."

Responding to the complaint, Vashu Bhagnani issued a statement which said, “The dues claimed do not constitute a legitimate claim and are liable to various set-offs, as informed to us by BMCM Films Ltd.” Following this, the FWICE asked Ali to submit proof of his unpaid fees.

Pooja Entertainment suffered a loss of Rs 250 crore in June following the poor performance of its films like Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Mission Raniganj, and Ganapath at the box office.

Mission Raniganj director Tinu Desai also complained of not receiving his dues. Much to his disappointment, there has been no update on this issue.
